Snow now in Italy…

After just about getting everything back to normal in Italy following last week’s strikes now we have heavy falls of snow.

It has been snowing since yesterday all over Northern and Central Italy.

For safety reasons the access to the highways for trucks is now prohibited on a big part of the highways  This is mainly effecting area codes 1-2- 4-5- 6.

I am sure all your clients and suppliers in Italy will already have informed you that shipments unfortunately may slight delays.

Fuel Sucharge for January 2012

The fuel surcharge on all European freight will be 7.25% on all February 2012 shipments due to the continuing rise of diesel in the UK and across Europe. Average diesel cost here in the UK in January was £141.9 per litre

Congratulations in advance to the Royal couple William & Kate as their big day approaches.

Although a lot of our clients and companies up and down the country will be taking Friday 29th April off, and enjoying the celebrations,  I thought you would like to know that all the team at Dalpa will be working hard to ensure your cargo is still moving.

Because your clients, and our colleagues in Europe will still be working and expecting their cargo the following week we will be loading as normal to all our European destinations on Friday 29th April.

However we will still be closed on Monday May 2nd and Monday 30th of May.

Fuel again rises

The average UK Fuel rate for February was 134.00 pence/litre for diesel.

Dalpa’s fuel surcharge now from 14th March to the 13th April is 4%.

If this affects your company you will already have received a letter from us.

For all “spot quotations” the fuel is included at the time of enquiry/booking.

This is still one of the lowest fuel surcharges that is on the market today, with some of our competitors charging over 10%.

Disaster In Japan

As everbody will appreciate delays are to be expected to continue over the coming days due to the worst natural disaster Japan has experienced.

Operations at most of Japan’s Soutthern ports have returned to normal today, but delays still should be allowed for as there is a back log of vessels, as well as other vessels being diverted with cargo due to the closure of the Northern ports.

The north east ports of Hachinohe, Sendai, Ishinomaki and Onahama felt the full force of the tsunami. It has been reported that so much damage has been caused it could be years before these ports open again.

Of course all our thoughts go out to all those affected by this terrible disaster.

ITALIAN HOLIDAY DATES 2011

The next holiday in Italy is on Thursday 17th, March 2011 also most companies will be closed in Italy on the Friday 18th March 2011. This is a special one off holiday this year in Italy as it is 150 years since all the different regions and Kingdoms of Italy were united.

15th August offically. However most companies close in August for upto to three weeks, so during this time services are reduced. Please check with your operational contacts for departure dates during this month
